Irish Christmas Angel Ornaments

Two very different Irish Christmas angels are fluttering round my shop.  The first, very individual lady is made of Connemara marble while her cousin is light and airy all swaggered out in Dublin sea glass:

 Irish sea glass fairy ornament
Irish sea glass angel or Christmas fairy

Both are hand wrapped in silver plate and feature silver plate beading. They come to you from Dublin, Ireland. Either handmade ornament will look amazing on your Christmas tree or make the ideal gift for an Irish ex-pat or descendant. Only one of each available right now in my Etsy store, Handmade by Amo'r

Etsy shop reopened for summer season

Irish seaglass pendant in copper wire
Irish Seaglass pendant with copper wire work

Handmade by Amo'r has reopened at the end of a long and busy academic year. Juggling work and studying for a degree left me no time to make any jewellery and meant my store had to hibernate for the Spring. I don't commit to doing things unless I can do them well and give them the attention they deserve. Now it's time to put a little love and attention into my Etsy store! I can't wait to get the pliers and silver wire out! Watch this space....

Connemara marble earrings inspired by Irish bog heather

It's no secret that the colourful and varied landscapes of Ireland have long inspired painters, poets and artisans. Even Irish jewellery artists like me garner ideas from what we see, smell and hear.

Connemara marble drop earrings, 'Irish  Heather'

The idea for these Connemara marble and purple and black glass earrings came from my trips to the bog lands in Co, Offaly, near where my mother was reared.
Offaly Way. Own photo

Much of the midlands bog areas of Offaly and Laois and the green mountains throughout Ireland are covered in a riot of purple heather.

The black seed beads used in the earrings design are there as a nod to Irish bog oak. This is ancient oak that has been preserved and naturally blackened in the peaty earth of the bogs. In the 1800s bog oak was used to make black mourning jewellery. I have yet to find a piece of usable bog oak myself, but if I ever do it will be fashioned into a very special piece. In the meantime, you will just have to make do with this increasingly rare and very beautiful Irish marble.......

Tuesday Treasuries, July

Treasuries are showcase lists of Etsy goodies from various shops. They are artfully put
together by members of the Etsy community.  As always,  I am grateful to be  included.

'Beachcombing' by ICAlien shows off all sorts of goodies connected to or found on the Irish beaches. I'm thrilled to see my Irish sea glass keychain in this beautiful treasury.

I was out searching for beach treasure a couple of weeks ago and this reminded me that the few bits of pottery and sea glass I found are still rinsing in water...time to take them out and see what I've got. I will take photos of anything interesting in there.  If you wish to know how to clean sea glass and sea pottery click HERE

Tuesday Treasuries at the Eleventh Hour

Treasuries are showcase lists of Etsy goodies from various shops. They are artfully put together by members of the Etsy community. As always, I am grateful to be included.

Tuesday Treasuries almost didn't happen this week, but it's not yet midnight and I've just discovered my work has been featured in two really stunning lists:

'Polar Bear Adventures' by Daria of Daria Creative is steely blue cool and filled with fresh summer picks. Warm thanks to Daria for including my blue eyeglass leash!

And it seems I'm not the only one burning the not-quite-midnight oil. Only half an hour ago, Mathew & Sarah (well one of them at least!) of TraBan put together this styish collection of Irish goodies 'A Rustic Irish Summer .' Thanks so much for including my sea glass pendant in this fabulous, local list.

Lynn Corrigan of Lynn's Creative Crochet has a good eye for something a little bit different. 'Wee Whites' is no exception. Thanks so much Lynn for including my 'Roaring Twenties' earrings in this interesting list. My Mum would love that squirrel!

Latest Treasury Features

Treasuries are showcase lists of Etsy goodies from various shops. They are artfully put together by members of the Etsy community. As always, I am tickled pink to have been included in this one today. Thank you!

A big thanks to Paula of DigitalDraft for this really cool list, A Touch of Red . I love these unusual and interesting picks and am delighted to see my sea glass fairy in the mix.

The first weekend of every month I am duty bound to produce a treasury for the Etsy Ireland Team, shared 50-50 with another team and then I do a short feature on our guest team the following Thursday.

This month I chose the Gardens of Etsy team as our guests for our Getting To  Know you spot and the cross team treasury is titled Country Garden. Hope it gives you the seed of an idea for something creative for your own green space.
